Buyer Beware

October. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. Other dangerous months are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August and February.

Predatory Behavior

 One of my favorite aphorisms:

Homo homini lupus or "man is a wolf to [his fellow] man."  OR  "man is man's wolf", which can be interpreted to mean that man preys upon man.   It is widely referenced when discussing the horrors of which humans are capable.

Apply the Predatory Behavior anology to Wall Street:
Enron:  Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling are Big Time Crooks synonymous with corporate abuse and accounting fraud.  2001 the scandal broke and shit hit the wall so to speak.. Lay was the CEO and chairman of Enron from 1985 until his resignation on January 23, 2002, except for a few months in 2000 when he was chairman and Jeffrey Skilling was CEO.

The American Dream:
Lay was born in Tyrone, Missouri, the son of Ruth (née Rees) and Omer Lay. His father was a Baptist preacher and some-time tractor salesman. When Lay was a child, he delivered newspapers and mowed lawns.  A Real Norman Rockwell picture...

He supported George W with campaign contributions... Lay was one of America's highest-paid CEOs, earning a $42.4 million compensation package in 1999.
He never gave up preaching the Word, as in Bible Thumping while decimating the company.
Lay dumped large amounts of his Enron stock in September and October 2001 as its price fell, while encouraging employees to buy more stock, telling them the company would rebound.
Lay liquidated more than $300 million in Enron stock from 1998 to 2001, mostly in stock options.

Condé Nast Portfolio ranked Lay as the 3rd worst American CEO of all time!!!!!!!!!

Defense:

The defense argued there was much "wickedness", and pressure led to confessions by company leaders,
and failure of "market confidence" led to the financial crisis:

Hard to Believe:

"13 of the 16 Enron executives who have pleaded guilty to federal crimes were innocent but caved in to intense pressure from federal prosecutors".

Charges:

Prosecution argues that leaders lied to Wall Street and investors about "crumbling finances".

Mission:

Poverty, Human Rights, protecting the Environment and working toward Sustainability are Mankind's greatest challenges in the 21st Century.
